A representative of JSC Gonets Satellite System (part of Roscosmos State Corporation) took part in the V International Forum of Modern Forest Fire Extinguishing Technologies LESPOZHTECH, which was held on February 07-08, 2024 in Moscow, on the territory of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the State Research Institute of Emergency Situations of Russia.
The forum was opened by Maxim Bedilo, head of the Institute, who stressed the importance of joint work between Russian scientists and national research universities in the field of forecasting, monitoring and extinguishing forest fires. In his welcoming speech, he emphasized the relevance of developing new methods of risk assessment and management in the field of forest fire emergencies.
Due to the 100% coverage of the territory of Russia, the Gonets satellite system is able to monitor the location and condition of fire equipment at any point on the map. At the same time, it is possible to provide personal communications in the format of text and voice messages on mobile devices. At the same time, the Gonets system can be used to monitor the condition of fire-hazardous facilities and prevent the occurrence of emergency situations. The services are especially relevant in remote areas with insufficient cellular network coverage.
The LESPOZHTECH forum was attended by representatives of specialized departments of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Federal Forestry Agency, the Federal State Budgetary Institution Avialesookhrana, the Federal State Budgetary Institution VNIILM, the Federal State Budgetary Institution Oboronles of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, specialists from regional ministries of environmental management and forestry institutions, representatives of specialized private organizations. In the business program of the forum, experts discussed issues of monitoring, rapid response and improvement of technologies for localization and elimination of forest fires. Russian modern samples of equipment, special vehicles, and new unmanned technologies developed taking into account the specifics of rapid response and difficult application conditions were presented.
