The multifunctional space relay System (MSRS) "Loutch" (the operating organization is JSC 'SS 'Gonets', part of the State Corporation Roscosmos), has successfully completed the tasks of targeted application during the launch and docking of the Progress MS–21 cargo ship with the Russian segment of the International Space Station (RS ISS).

On October 26, 2022, at 03:20 Moscow time, the Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket was launched from the 31st site of the Baikonur Cosmodrome with the Progress MS-21 transport cargo ship (TCS). On October 28, at 05:50 Moscow time, the Progress MS-21 TCS docked to a small research module "Search" of the ISS RS. The launch of the Progress MS-21 spacecraft into a predetermined orbit, separation from the third stage of the launch vehicle, the deployment of antennas and solar panels, as well as its flight and docking to the ISS took place in normal mode. During the launch and flight of the Progress MS-21 TGC, the relay channels of the MSRS "Loutch" (operator – JSC "Gonets Satellite System") were used according to the two-day approach scheme. After the TCS left the radio visibility zone of ground facilities, the Luch relay system provided the transmission of telemetric information from the Progress MS-21 spacecraft to the Flight Control Center (MCC) of the ISS RS, as well as the transmission of control commands on board.

Currently, the Luch system, in accordance with the established work program, continues to perform the complex task of providing the crew of the ISS RS with a broadband information transmission channel with the possibility of voice and video communication. All 3 spacecraft of the system are involved in the organization of the broadband channel: "Loutch-5A", "Loutch-5B", "Loutch-5V", equipment installed on the ISS RS, and means of a ground-based relay support complex. Up to 25 retransmission sessions are conducted daily.

More than 2,500 kg of cargo, including fuel for refueling the station, drinking water, nitrogen, various equipment and materials, including resource equipment, personal protective equipment, medical control and sanitary and hygienic support, clothing, food rations and fresh products for the crew of the 68th long-term expedition.
