JSC "Satellite System "Gonets" (part of the State Corporation "Roscosmos") took part in the VIII International Conference "Arctic: Sustainable Development", which took place on March 2-3, 2023 in Moscow.
The conference has been held annually since 2016 with the official support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia and other relevant federal, executive and regional authorities. The conference traditionally discussed issues related to the development of transport and social infrastructure in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, the construction of large infrastructure facilities, the sustainable development of remote northern regions, as well as issues of creating a comfortable urban environment in the Far North and the Arctic. The Conference participants were particularly interested in aspects of import substitution and digitalization focused on the development of the Arctic region, as well as innovations in design, technological and engineering solutions. The Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, despite its remoteness and difficult climatic conditions, is today one of the most attractive regions of Russia for the development of Russian and international entrepreneurship and attracting investment.
The Gonets satellite system, being the only domestic low-orbit satellite communication system, allows monitoring mobile and stationary objects in any weather and geographical conditions from anywhere on Earth. The subscriber equipment of the Gonets system has been used for many years on fishing vessels of the Northern Sea Route and promptly transmits the necessary data and monitors the location of vessels located in the most remote areas of the Russian Arctic. Digital solutions using the Gonets satellite system can also be used for monitoring road and river transport, any industrial facilities, oil and gas production, power grids, digital monitoring of liquid media, as well as for meteorological and hydrological monitoring. The equipment of the Gonets system is compact, can be easily integrated into the customer's system, depending on the goals and objectives of its application, an omnidirectional antenna does not require pointing at a spacecraft.
During the Conference, participants traditionally exchanged news on the status of the implementation of current projects contributing to sustainable socio-economic development and development of the Arctic, discussed issues of stimulating scientific, technical and innovative activities in the northern and Far Eastern regions of Russia. Based on the results of the International Conference, a resolution will be prepared with the proposals of the participants, which will be sent to the Government of the Russian Federation and to relevant ministries and departments.
