JSC "Satellite System "Gonets" (part of the State Corporation "Roscosmos") presented the possibilities of satellite monitoring in the field of ecology in the framework of the XV International Yasnaya Polyana Forum "Sustainable Development. Rational use of natural resources. Health technologies". The event was held on October 5-9 in the cities of Tula, Moscow and Yasnaya Polyana. Director of the Directorate of Satellite Systems Application Alexander Grisenko made a presentation of the Gonets system on October 6 in Tula at the round table "Water Resources of Russia and Climate Change. Environmental health is human health." In his report, Alexander Grisenko spoke about the capabilities of the Gonets low-orbit communication system for transmitting data from stationary and mobile objects to monitoring centers.
To protect the environment, it is very important to respond promptly to the occurrence of any emergency situations at hazardous facilities and, if necessary, promptly transmit information about the status of the facility or an alarm signal. The availability of such an opportunity is extremely important when monitoring objects that have a negative impact on the environment with the threat of man-made disasters at chemical and radiation-hazardous facilities, dams and dams, as well as at municipal facilities. Such tasks can be successfully performed with the help of digital services of the Gonets satellite system. Also, the Gonets system can be effectively used as a means of transmitting data for meteorological and hydrological monitoring, during storage and transportation of dangerous and valuable goods. Monitoring data is transmitted via a secure satellite communication channel to analyze and monitor the current state of the observed objects. As a cumulative effect, the capabilities of the Gonets system make it possible to reduce the anthropogenic load on environmental facilities and reduce risks when using them.
