The Loutch Multifunctional Space Relay System (MSRS) successfully completed its tasks at the docking of the "Nauka" Multipurpose Laboratory Module (MLM) with the Russian segment of the ISS. Through the relay channels of the ISSR "Loutch", by use of broadband communication system, the teleoperator mode of negotiations between Russian cosmonauts and the ISS RS flight control center was ensured.
"Nauka" is a multifunctional laboratory module for the Russian segment of the ISS. It is designed to implement the Russian program of scientific and applied research and experiments and expand the functionality of the Russian segment of the ISS. The launch and launch of the module into orbit by the Proton-M launch vehicle took place on July 21, 2021.
To ensure the docking of MLM “Nauka” with the ISS, the spacecraft “Luch-5A” and “Luch-5B”, onboard equipment installed on the Russian segment of the ISS and ground infrastructure were used. A total of 16 retransmission sessions were successfully carried out for this purpose from 25 to 29 July. The duty shifts in the normal mode completed the tasks of planning and monitoring the retransmission sessions. The information was successfully obtained and communicated to end users.
