Government Commission proposed to accelerate the development of the "Gonets" system

On 11 March the Ministry of the Russian Federation for civil defense, emergencies and elimination of consequences of natural disasters under the supervision of the head EMERCOM of Russia Vladimir Puchkov held a meeting of the Government Commission on prevention and liquidation of emergency situations and ensuring fire safety.

During the meeting, the Committee members considered the issue of equipping aircraft small aircraft with modern equipment, allowing to transmit information about the location of the object in real time and offline mode. The overall disadvantage was recognized by the use of satellite communication channels, controlled by foreign organizations.

In this regard, it was proposed to accelerate the development of domestic satellite communication systems of the type "Gonets" or similar system that could be reliable satellite communications channel and an alternative to foreign systems, "Inmarsat" and "iridium", thereby to eliminate the risks of a shutdown for political reasons foreign companies satellite communication channels necessary for operation of the tracking system.
