At the regular session of the COSPAS-SARSAT International Program, the successful use of the "Loutch-5B" Multifunctional Space Relay System (MSRS) Loutch in its composition was confirmed (the operator is JSC Gonets Satellite System, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation). From April 19 to April 25, 2023, representatives of the operator MKSR "Luch" took part in closed meetings of the 68th session of the Council of the International COSPAS-SARSAT Program, which was held via videoconference. The 68th session was attended by representatives of the Russian Federation, France, the USA and Canada, and the European Commission participated in observer status. During the session, experts confirmed the successful completion of the target tasks using the Luch-5B spacecraft, which was introduced into the orbital constellation of the COSPAS-SARSAT international satellite search and rescue system in January of this year. The successful operation of the Russian ICSR "Luch" satellites allows Russia to successfully fulfill its international obligations to participate in the international rescue system COSPAS-SARSAT. The use of Luch geostationary repeaters significantly expands the possibilities of timely reception of distress signals from emergency buoys and, as a result, leads to the saving of more lives around the world.
