Multifunctional space relay system (MSRS) "Loutch", (operator - JSC "Satellite system "Gonets", part of State Corporation "Roscosmos"), has successfully carried out the transmission of cosmonaut Ivan Wagner's (a crew member of the of 63-th expedition to the International space station (ISS)) voting results on the amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federationfrom.
Earlier the Russuian relay broadband system facilitated the first video conferencing session during which the General Director of state Corporation "Roscosmos" Dmitry Rogozin and the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova discussed with the members of the ISS crew the importance and significance of the amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation.
Pavel Cherenkov, the Director General of JSC "Satellite system "Gonets": "I am glad that on the day of nationwide voting, the relay system "Loutch" provided a communication channel with the required characteristics".
MSRS "Loutch" is currently providing a test broadband communication channel for the Russian segment of the ISS, the terminal aim of which is going to be the system "Loutch" should become reliable and up-to-date alternative to the American relay system TDRS. JSC "Satellite system "Gonets" working on this important task jointly with JSC "TsNIIMash" and JSC RSC "Energia", is using the resources of satellite-relay satellites "Luch-5B" and "Luch-5V".
