For more than two years has been going the use of the Gonets satellite system terminals on fishing vessels continues. During this time, the system operator - JSC "Satellite System "Gonets" (part of the State Corporation "Roscosmos") - has been able to accumulate data on the operation of the ship stations "Gonets", taking into account the" feedback " from the fishermen.
The Gonets terminal consists of two main components – a transceiving unit with a power controller and a backup battery (BB) and an antenna-feeder device (AFD). The Gonets ship stations have passed the relevant tests and received the approval of the Maritime Register. The warranty period for the terminal is 18 months.
Ship station "Gonets"
Since the beginning of 2019, 297 units of Gonets ship stations have been delivered to fishing companies, 248 of which are in constant operation in various fishing basins. The difference in figures is explained by the fact that some shipowners, especially of large vessels, decided to purchase spare terminals, because without regular data transmission to the Federal State Institution "Center of Fishery Monitoring and Communication " (CFMC) of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, the extraction of bioresources is prohibited, and going to the port for repair or installation of another station means interrupting fishing. At the same time, the vast majority of vessels operate with one terminal "Gonets", which confirms the overall high reliability of the equipment.
Distribution of Gonets stations in the fishing industry is carried out by CFMC, which is the exclusive dealer of JSC "Satellite System "Gonets" . In accordance with requests received by the CFMC from the fishermen, the equipment is distributed to authorized service organizations, where it is installed on the vessels and further maintenance.
JSC "Satellite System "Gonets" has also obtained important statistics of ship station failures and their causes. For a little over two years, there have been no warranty failures. At the same time, the total number of Gonets ship stations failures for non-guaranteed cases amounted to 4.8% of the total number of terminals sold. Among the frequent reasons – non-compliance with the rules of operation and attempts to maintain and repair equipment without the involvement of authorized organizations.

The Gonets system is the only Russian low-orbit communication system. It is able to provide services on mobile objects, including ships, anywhere in the world and guarantees the confidentiality of data transmission. On the basis of the Order of the Ministry of Agriculture No. 525 of December 1, 2019, all vessels engaged in the extraction of bioresources to the North of 75° and South of 75° must transmit their location information using Gonets ship stations.
